2004 Men’s European Championship, qualification groups in January 2003

 

Matches ISR-BEL, BEL-ISR, FAR-ISR, ISR-FAR,ISR-FIN

 

Participation of Mikhail Levin for the Israeli team

 

 

Disciplinary proceedings have been undertaken against the Israeli Handball Association and the participation of player number 12 – Mikhail Levin. Questions arose concerning the player eligibility of the fore mentioned player. The player concerned was in possession of the Israeli citizenship in accordance with Israeli law. However the fore mentioned player failed to present the required documents at the matches stated above.

 

The EHF Competitions Commission – Body of 1st Instance – dealt with the case accordingly and announces herewith the following measures:

 

1                   The results of the above-mentioned matches of qualification group 3 are officially confirmed.

2                   The Israeli Handball Association has to pay a monetary fine amounting to €18 000.

3                   Further investigations regarding the participation of Mikhail Levin in EURO 2002 in Sweden and in previous qualification matches will follow.

 

 

The case is to be presented to the EHF Executive Committee.

 

This is a decision of 1st Instance/Competitions Commission in accordance with the EHF European Championship Regulations clause §14.1. The involved party has the right to submit an appeal against this decision.
